Dr. Thomas Estes was raised in Gay, Ga. and graduated from Greenville High School. He completed his BS degree at the University of Georgia and then his MD Degree at the Medical College of Georgia in 1978. Dr. Estes completed General Surgery Residency at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta and joined the medical staff at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in 1983.
Dr. Estes is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and a member of the Georgia Surgical Society and Robotic Surgical Society. He has served on the medical staff of Colquitt Regional Medical Center in numerous leadership positions including Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery in three different eras. Dr. Estes has interests in a broad spectrum of surgery including oncology, laparoscopic and robotically assisted procedures. Dr. Estes is responsible for bringing laparoscopic procedures to Colquitt Regional Medical Center and performed the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy done in Moultrie in 1990. Dr. Estes also serves as Director of the Wound Care Clinic at Vereen Rehabilitation Center.
